Production Update #2

March 12, 2013

Opening night for Romeo and Juliet and Mercutio and his Brother Valentine is barely a month away and we are happy to say that the show is evolving nicely. In anticipation, here’s a little peek at what Impromptu Productions has been up to in the last few weeks.

The cast has been dedicating a lot of time and effort to rehearsals, which are coming along well. They recently had their first sword-and-dagger-fight rehearsal, which was “very awesome” according to director Matt Davis.

Unfortunately, due to some health issues, we are currently in need of a Stage Manager and a Friar Lawrence. If you are interested in either role, please drop us a line at impromptukingston@gmail.com ASAP!

Publicity has been very busy with press releases, posters, and blog updates. Thanks to our hard-working publicity assistants, graphic designer Kendra Allen’s eye-catching poster is going up all over town. Meanwhile, publicity head Renata Colwell has sent the press release out to local media outlets, which always play an important role in getting the word out to the community. She’s already had some responses from media, so keep a look out for local coverage on our production in the coming weeks! Also, check back here for weekly interviews with cast and crew!

Our sound and music expert, Tristan McCoubrey, recently presented us with some options for period music and sound effects to be used in the show. He’ll be sitting in on rehearsals to figure out what to incorporate and when, and we are excited about what he has to offer.

As for costumes, most of the cast has been measured, and our wardrobe head, Katie McNeill, will soon be off to local theatres to peruse their available costumes.

Finally, tickets are now on sale! Students can get tickets at Tricolour Outlet for $18 a show or $25 for a two-show package. Anyone else can buy single tickets at Novel Idea in downtown Kingston. Prices are $20 adults /$18 students and seniors. You can also get tickets at the door and, if you have a stub from one show, you may upgrade at that time to the two-show package price at $30 adults/$25 students and seniors.

Get ready for a great run!

It’s always an exciting time as things really get into full swing and various fragmented ideas begin to evolve into a polishe...
